It is apologizing after the blowout, picking up the shards of a relationship and trying not to cut your hands.Home is an old house that sits in the rolling hills of the Appalachian mountains, a region of the country with a painful legacy and wounded pride.

Being born and raised in the deep South allows me an intimate understanding into the social issues of the red states: an insight into the deeper narrative of Southern society norms and expectations; a space with a painful legacy; overflowing bitterness rooted in poverty, and under-education. These are feelings ingrained into the Southern culture that ascend politics, need to be analyzed beyond the "ignorant other" as compared to the rest of the nation. They are rich, complex narratives full of often-kind and polite people that consistently seem to end up on the wrong side of history.
